Assistive Technology
Instructor: Mr. Kotrba

Closing the Learning Gap

Assistive technology (AT) includes assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices. AT promotes independence by enabling students to perform tasks that they were formerly unable to, or had great difficulty accomplishing, by providing tools or different methods to assist them.

Vision:
To facilitate the implementation of Assistive Technology, provide continued access
to curriculum and close the academic achievement gap.

Goal:
Create knowledgeable school-based teams to:
·         Recognize student gaps in learning
·         Understand when alternate teaching strategies need to be employed
·         Explore potential assistive solutions as appropriate

Assistive Technology
  • Supports Universal Design for Learning
  • Supports reading, writing, test-taking and learning tools
  • Makes curriculum accessible for all students
